San Pedro Sula Travel Blog

OVERVIEW: Drops in and out of the number one spot for world's most dangerous city. Needless to say, it is not a part of the gringo trail anymore. It's a modern city, and the epicentre of industry in Honduras.

POPULATION: 1,000,000

WEATHER: Tropical Savannah (24-32 °C). Experiences tropical storms from time to time.

SAFETY: San Pedro Sula is dangerous. Tourists are not the target, but with an average of 3 murders a day, it's possible to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and catch a stray or two. Also, the threat of express kidnapping is very real in San Pedro Sula.

MUST DO: Walk. Simply walk around. You'll see that it isn't as dangerous as the media would have you believe.

Like in other Honduran cities apart from Roatan, your exotic value is high, and you will get attention from girls. But you need to make sure your logistics are down because no one wants to be fucking lost in San Pedro Sula. Find a place that is a short cab ride away from Zona Viva or wherever the bars/clubs are you plan to go to. Walking home late at night is simply not part of the culture here - in fact, some of the wealthier kids even have personal drivers that bring them home from the club. So, if you plan to taste some 'o dat Honduran flava, you best be staying in the right part of town.

***ONLINE DATING: Latin American Cupid allows you to talk with girls and set up dates before you arrive in the country. For this reason, I recommend it.

Talent resides at Cassandra. On the street during the day, however, you will see nothing. The best looking girls in San Pedro Sula are the upper class ones who rarely leave home. About the same as quality as in Managua, Nicaragua.

RENT AN APARTMENT IN SAN PEDRO SULA: You'll pay $400.00 a month for an apartment in San Pedro Sula.

***If you’re doing a short-term stay (one month or less) Airbnb is your best bet. Click this link to register and get $40 off the cost of your first stay.

HOSTEL DORM BED/NIGHT $15.00. La Hamaca. Might be the only hostel in the city.

Pretty damn good lads, pretty damn good! Based on the reports coming out of San Pedro Sula, you'd probably think it was a dusty, backwater town filled with shady criminals. Not true!...well the criminal part is true, but in reality, San Pedro Sula is a very progressive city with many American-style restaurants and bars. Zona Viva is where the best nightlife is at in San Pedro Sula.

I recommend: Lua and CassandraLua has better music, Cassandra has better people.

If you want to meet women in Honduras, you will need to speak some Spanish. PickUp Spanish is the best resource of its kind, designed specifically for teaching you the Spanish you'll need to meet girls from Latin America.

GROCERIES: Milk (1L)= $1.25   Loaf of Bread=$1.50   Eggs= $1.90   Water (1.5L)= $1.80   Cigarettes= $2.00

JOB OPPORTUNITIES: Nothing. Unless you're thinking about joining MS 13 or Mara 18, which I can't condone.

TAXI: $2.00-$3.00 will do it.

NOTES: There isn't much to do here. But, if you're in Honduras anyway, it's worth checking out San Pedro Sula; you'll be surprised at how modern it is. But don't take my word for it, check out LipstickFables San Pedro Video on YouTube!
